Become a Volunteer

Volunteers are absolutely vital to the successful operation of the David Davis Mansion! When you volunteer, not only do you become part of history, but you help expand the mansion’s resources and strengthen its ties to the community. As interpreters of the mansion's past, volunteers contribute to the visitors' appreciation of American history and help preserve the mansion as an essential cultural and aesthetic resource. Volunteers are asked to volunteer a minimum of 4 hours per month.

The following volunteer positions are needed at the David Davis Mansion:

  • Tour Guide/Docent - provide a guided, interpretive tour of the mansion, including family and social history, architectural and decorative arts information, and political history around the relationship between the Davis family and Abraham Lincoln.
  • Welcome Desk - greet visitors as they arrive at the visitor’s center, organize tours, and help with special assignments.
  • Special Events - participate in a variety of educational programming and special events throughout the year.
