Sarah's Garden Heirlooms in Winter

"The Bear Grass in your garden is in bloom and the pride of the meadows is in it's glory…"

Letter, dated 07/07/1852

In the circular garden of the 1850's, Sarah used the yucca as a showpiece

While the plants are dormant in the winter, we will take an opportunity to focus on those plants which are original to Sarah's Garden. While it is not unusual for peonies to live to hundreds of years, it is rare to have a collection of so many plants which are over 130 years old. These original plants are valuable heirlooms to the site, to history, and to horticulture.
